Crama Sibiană
About This Spot
Stepping into Crama Sibiană feels like slipping into a quietly cherished corner of Sibiu’s rich culinary tapestry. Nestled below street level in the heart of Piața Mică, the restaurant’s basement setting offers an intimate refuge, where the city’s historic hum softens behind thick walls and subdued lighting. The pace here is unhurried—encouraging guests to settle in and savor moments as much as the meal itself.
The atmosphere is warmly authentic, carrying a lived-in charm that speaks to generations of shared meals and stories. It’s not polished or pristine, but rather textured and inviting, with wooden accents and the occasional nod to traditional Romanian life that root the experience in place and time. Conversations linger over glasses of vin fiert or craft beers, while the comforting aroma of slow-cooked stews and freshly baked bread envelopes the room.
Food at Crama Sibiană is a quiet celebration of Romanian heritage, unfolding through dishes that feel like family recipes gently reinterpreted. A bowl of goulash served inside crusty house-baked bread becomes more than sustenance—it’s a ritual of warmth and earthiness. Plates arrive rich with local character: smoky cured meats, tender lamb pastrami, and hearty casseroles that invite you to pause and appreciate the craftsmanship behind each bite. Sweet endings like papanăși topped with homemade jam prove that even dessert here carries the affectionate touch of home.
There is a subtle generosity woven through the service and setting alike, where recommendations feel like guidance from a trusted friend rather than a menu pitch. The basement dining room—a beautiful, authentic space even if it’s seen some changes over time—offers a cozy backdrop where time slows, and every meal becomes a chapter in a larger local story.
For those looking to experience Sibiu beyond the usual routes, Crama Sibiană is a place to settle into the rhythms of traditional Romanian dining, with moments that quietly linger long after the last sip or spoonful.

Outstanding food, location and service. The gulash in bread was different and as expected - perfect!

This was our first meal in Romania and it did not disappoint! Our server gave us great recommendations. The lamb knuckle is to die for and the sheep pastrami was also super unique and delicious. Definitely recommend eating here while in Sibiu.

The best papanash in town ! Amazing food, great service, and delightful atmosphere! If you are in Sibiu for any reason then this is a place to eat local cuisine.

Beautiful. Very atmospheric, even though it's in a basement. The side dish—the potatoes—were sour. The spare ribs were beyond praise, perfect. The soup was delicious.

The inside restaurant is downstairs- much more beautiful and authentic. The decor is quite blunt, the used to have better and more traditional objects on the walls- I do hope they put them back and keep the original vibe of the place. The food is very well made, well presented- we didn’t had to wait to long to be served. Also I do recommend the boiled tuica before the meal.. it is a must and gets you into the local vibe. The staff was great and very helpful

I just enjoyed the tasty food from the menu. Also, they have a very good selection of drinks (including the less known but good Vlad “țuica”). Unfortunately, I was there during a week day and the atmosphere wasn’t so good, just few tables were occupied.

Traditional Romanian restaurant, everything is very tasty, though service can be a bit slow. The only downside is that if you sit at the basement tables, you won’t have signal—something to keep in mind! Service is good.
